Ruya Taner, acknowledged as one of Turkey’s new generation of leading concert pianists, is originally from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. After her musical training with her father, she studied briefly with Mithat Fenmen and Tulga Cetiz at Ankara State Conservatoire. At the age of 11, she was awarded a state scholarship to go to London. She studied with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, gaining the rarely awarded AGSM and ARCM concert recital diplomas. Since her London debut at Wigmore Hall, she has toured almost 60 countries developing her concert career and promoting both Turkey and Northern Cyprus as a state artist.
