Finance Accounts Assistant

Based in the heart of London’s West End since 1875, Steinway & Sons UK is Europe’s largest retailer of Steinway pianos. Alongside the retail part of our business, we operate a restoration centre and provide technical services to private and institutional customers. We also have a Concerts and Artists department which provides pianos and services to professional pianists, institutions, concert halls, venues and festivals across the United Kingdom.

We are seeking a finance accounts assistant to join our busy finance team. The ideal candidate will preferably have some experience of working in a finance role looking to start or have started their career in finance by studying towards their AAT or other financial qualification. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential and some knowledge of accounting software preferably Navision (Microsoft Dynamics). If you are a good communicator, numerical with a keen eye for detail and like working in a team then this might just be the role for you.

The role involves:

  • Processing purchase ledger invoices (matching, batching, coding, approval)
  • Processing intercompany invoices (EUR/USD) and dealing with FX conversions
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Self-invoice processing
  • Banking – processing of cheques, cash, and credit cards
  • Credit Control
  • Entry of piano orders onto database
  • Taking telephone card payments
  • Processing staff expenses on SAP Concur
  • Dealing with internal queries as well as from suppliers and customers
  • General finance office administration – filing, placing orders, issuing purchase orders, sending remittances and invoices to suppliers and assisting in managing the various Finance Team email inboxes.
  • Update/create customer & vendor accounts
  • End of month piano stock take and piano inventory values reconciliation
  • Ad hoc duties as required

  • Experience of working in a finance environment
  • Able to work to sometimes tight deadlines
  • Excellent communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Can work both in a team and independently
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Proactive with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Some basic knowledge/experience of accounting software (preferably Microsoft Dynamics Navision)
  • Some knowledge of SAP Concur is advantageous
