Mengyuan Xun was born in 1991 in China and began to study the piano at the age of four with Hongyan Cao, and later with Chun Pan and Xiao Luo in Beijing and Shanghai. She was invited to perform in numerous of masterclasses and achieved many successes in competitions in China, including 1st prize in the First Chinese Children Arts Festival, the Tenth XingHai piano competition and 3rd prize in the Sixth International Piano Open Competition of YMCA- YWCA, etc.

In 2009, Mengyuan started to study in the Royal Academy of Music with Christopher Elton and then Joanna MacGregor. Mengyuan has a good understanding of a wide range of repertoire from baroque to contemporary music. She was awarded the Alfred Knight Scholarship and Jean Ginsburg Memorial Foundation at the academy. During her studies in London, she participated in many concerts in China and UK, such as the ‘Meet at Meridian’ concert series at King’s College, in the University of Oxford, duo performance in the ‘UK Chinese New Year Gala’ and the QILU Culture Chamber of Commerce at Kings Place. She has also performed in the Lennox Berkeley “Musical Cabinet” organized by The Lennox Berkeley Society and BBC Radio 3. She was the winner of Janet Duff Greet Prize, Christian Carpenter Prize and Nancy Dickinson Prize. She has had many successful piano recitals in venues such as St. James Piccadilly, Steinway Hall, etc. She will graduate MA in piano performance in July 2015.
