Pontus Carron was born in Sweden in 1993. Between 2012 and 2018 he studied with Prof. Stefan Bojsten at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Prof. Mats Widlund at the distinguished Edsberg Manor.
Prizes include First Prize in the Stockholm International Music Competition in 2017, Second Prize in the Nordic Piano Competition in 2019 and Fourth Prize in the International Piano Competition San Dona di Piave in 2016. He has won several awards and scholarships from the Grand Lodge of Sweden and the Royal Academy of Music.
Pontus performs regularly as a recital pianist, at venues such as the Konserthuset in Stockholm, the Donizetti Theatre in Bergamo, the Palladium in Malmö and the Deutches Haus in Flensburg.
Pontus is also active as a chamber music pianist. He performs as a duo with cellist Kristina Winiarski and was the silver medallist in the Swedish International Duo Competition in 2017 – and winner of Sweden’s largest chamber music competition ‘Young and Promising’ in 2019.
During the season 2019/2020 Pontus will also collaborate with the Quartetto di Cremona, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra and the Treitler Quartet.
With cellist, Kristina Winiarski, Pontus has performed in the Lichtwarsaal in Hamburg, at the Classeek Winter Festival in Aubonne, Switzerland – and a recording of Swedish music for cello and piano will be released shortly.
