10 YEAR INITIATIVE CULMINATES IN ‘ALL-STEINWAY SCHOOL’ STATUS
In 1999, the City of Edinburgh Music School purchased its first few Boston pianos from Steinway & Sons to kick-start their ‘All-Steinway School’ initiative.
Over the next decade, new Steinway grands and uprights were added to the school’s piano inventory and the original Boston pianos were traded in for additional new Steinway pianos under the Steinway & Sons Price Promise programme.
Finally, late in 2008, a party of tutors from the school travelled to Steinway & Sons’ factory in Hamburg to select their recital instrument to top off the school’s Steinway piano inventory. On 1st July 2009, the City of Edinburgh Music school were formally presented with their ‘All-Steinway School’ plaque at an inaugural recital by eminent Steinway & Sons Artist, Joanna MacGregor.
