BETTER BY THE DOZEN… 12 NEW PIANOS ADDED TO THEIR EXISTING FLEET TO BECOME AN ‘ALL-STEINWAY SCHOOL’
With the construction of the new home for creative arts underway, Vice-Chancellor Professor Pillay’s attention turned to equipment for the magnificent new ‘Capstone’ building.
During a meeting with Steinway & Sons Institutional Sales Manager, Keith Glazebrook, the initial interest in a new Steinway & Sons concert grand for the new performance space quickly became an exploration of the requirements to gaining ‘All Steinway School’ accreditation.
Professor Pillay’s visit to the Steinway Factory in Hamburg to participate in selecting the new Concert grand in January 2010 cemented his view of the need for the University to become an ‘All-Steinway School’.
On March 16th 2010, 12 new pianos were delivered into the Capstone Building to become an ‘All-Steinway School’.
